The Perfect Escape
Captain's Secret Log
Sept. 5  2007
It is definitely getting close to crunch time. I am pretty sure that one way or the other I will be making my perfect escape before Christmas. It is quite remarkable how this web site and my life are coming together at this point in time.

I feel as though I have been digging this tunnel to freedom for virtually my entire life and now that I am getting very close to the end of it (my life) I am also absolutely sure that I am very close to success with  my tunneling efforts.

I can practically hear others on the other side of the last remaing solid earth barrier between my prison and freedom. At any time now I expect to see a helping hand reach through from the other side to help me break through those last couple of feet.

I am very tired, however, and my fingers are worn to the bone from  decades spent scratching at the rocky soil. As for a helping hand from this side of the barrier, I have long ago given up holding on to much hope for help from that quarter. I only cling to the hope that the little help I am still receiving will not evaporate before I have made it through.

Much has changed since I first started digging this tunnel a million years ago.
I look back now ( with bemusement) on my naive thinking that others in this prison would applaud my tunneling efforts to seek freedom for us all - and perhaps even lend a hand from time to time.

Only later did I come to understand that nearly everyone is far too busy decorating their prison cells to to even notice that they are living in a prison - far less to spare any thought or effort regarding a possible escape from this prison.

My hopes are definitely now pinned on help from the other side. Possibly as early as October, or more likely November, or for the latest December, I am hoping and expecting to see a crack in the barrier and a helping hand reaching through it. Whether this hand turns out to be the hand of God or the hand of a new friend is a question that I am sure will soon be answered. If I can just keep digging a little longer and a little faster it will, hopefully turn out to be the latter.
